The Stigma Stomp V (5K)
MAY 30, 2026
988 SUICIDE & CRISIS LIFE LINE

We had a wonderful family thanksgiving in 2020. Unknown to us, one of our family members was struggling more than we knew. Ronnie Cooper would take his life before Christmas. Not a day goes by that we don't think about Ronnie, not a family event passes that we don't look at each other and know exactly what the other is thinking. For me it was pain reborn. My mother took her life when I was nineteen.
We can't bring back those who we have lost, but we can spread awareness. The Stigma Stomp is a 5K (3.1) mile race that raises money for suicide awareness. The Stigma Stomp V will be held on Saturday may30th at the Currituck County extension Center (next to the YMCA).
(FIRST TIME) THE BEST OF THE REST: For those who don’t like running (I fall into that group) there will be a group walk for 3 miles and then anyone who wants to can run the final (.1 = 176 yards) to determine who the best of the rest is.
NOTES:
(1) If you or someone you know are struggling with mental health, please call 988

(2) There are several videos, but the first video has a great explanation and illustration of the burdens that we feel and offers some solutions.
